Rautahat tense over murder, clash

Just after the second phase of provincial and parliamentary elections in Rautahat, tension has run high due to various untoward incidents in the district of late.
Tension ran high after the body of a youth was recovered at Shukdev Chowk along the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section today. The Jigdawa locals of Paroha Municipality-5 hit the street and obstructed vehicular movement after the body of local Saukat Ali, 25, was found in a bush.
Ali was abducted yesterday. “As there were bruises all over his body, he might have been murdered after being beaten black and blue. Probe into the incident is under way” said SP Yagya Binod Pokhrel.
Similarly, Nemilal Thakur, 32, of Balchanpur of Chandrapur Municipality-10, collapsed when Asfak Alam of Gujara Municipality-4 hit him while the former was disturbing locals under the influence of alcohol yesterday night. Thakur died on the way to Chandrapur Hospital.
Following the incident, the kin of the deceased hit the street in protest along the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road from early morning today. Police fired tear gas and shots in the open to clear the road.
Meanwhile, a clash erupted due to the confrontation between the victory rallies of Nepali Congress’ Mohammad Aftab Alam from Rautahat Constituency No 2 and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal’s provincial poll candidate Ram Kishor Yadav at Rajpur. Police took the situation under control by firing in the air.
