KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday reiterated that the government was ready to address genuine demands of the parties protesting the Constitution.

Laying foundation stone for the Tarini Prasad Koirala Media Village in Biratnagar of Morang district today, Oli said, "The government is ready to solve the problem through talks if the demands are genuine."

"As a democratic Constitution is already in effect, let us build the nation. Why are you discontent with the Constitution?"

Oli defended that the Constitution had ensured rights of all people including Dalits, marginalised communities and backward regions.

He added that the government was moving ahead with a mission to let citizens enjoy all basic needs and rights.

The CPN-UML Chairman, however, maintained that he could not tolerate any separatist, anti-nationalist remark as the government had kept the national unity at the top of its priorities.

Minister for Information and Communications and UML leader Sherdhan Rai, Nepali Congress Central Working Committee members Sujata Koirala and Minendra Rijal, CPN Maoist Centre spokesperson Pampha Bhusal, Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications Dinesh Thapaliya, Radio Nepal Executive Director Suresh Karki and Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City Executive Officer Gopal Regmi among others had spoken at the function.

Tarini Prasad Koirala, a leader of the democratic movement against the Rana oligarchy, had established the 'Prajatantrik Radio' in Biratnagar in 1949/50, with a mission to give a new height to the movement. He was made chief of the Radio Nepal after establishment of democracy in 1951.
