Reconstruction work has almost been completed in Rampur, Ramechhap Municipality, which was one of the places worst hit by the earthquakes three years ago.

As per the official data, some 654 households figure in the list of beneficiaries in the district. Of them, construction of 614 houses has been completed, while work on remaining 40 houses still going on.

Nepal Red Cross Society Ramechhap had taken the responsibility of post-quake reconstruction, along with sanitation, drinking water and livelihood related programmes in the ward.

“As for Rampur, we’d carried out work even by setting up a field office and employed more than 35 staffers every day, which has paid off as we’ve been able to be wrap up the reconstruction here earlier than elsewhere in the district,” said Red Cross Ramechhap president Shiva Kumar Karki.

According to him, besides reconstruction work, 12 drinking-water projects, various livelihood programmes, sanitation and development programmes are being run in the ward.
