Reconstruction Authority should be formed soon
KATHMANDU: Parliamentarians have suggested the government to intensify the task of formation of National Reconstruction Authority soon as it has already been late for reconstruction of the quake-hit infrastructures.
During today's meeting of sub-committee of the Legislation Committee under the Legislature-Parliament, they said, "It is necessary to present the Bill at the Parliament as soon as possible for the formation of the NRA."
Stating that the reconstruction task was not initiated even after six months of the Gorkha earthquake, the lawmakers said that reconstruction task should be forwarded after approving the bill by the Legislature-Parliament meeting scheduled on November 8.
On the occasion, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Kharel, said that the bill should be approved by the House on November 8 rather than spending time in collecting suggestions over it.
Minister Kharel said suggestions of the parties in and outside of the government, lawmakers and experts should be incorporated in the bill.
Similarly, parliamentarian Rameshwor Phunyal stressed the need of incorporating quake survivors in the direction committee and executive committee of the reconstruction of quake-affected infrastructures.
Parliamentarians—Ananda Pokhrel, Shyam Shrestha, Prem Suwal, Ram Narayan Bidari and Ashta Laxmi Shakya, among other also expressed their views.
