Reconstruction drive in Kavre sees 10 pc progress

Kavrepalanchowk, one of the 14 districts hardest hit by the 2015 ‘Gorkha Earthquake’, has witnessed around 10 per cent progress in the post-quake reconstruction drive.

Around 6,300 houses were rebuilt in the district in the past 10 months since the distribution of the first instalment of the house rebuilding grant assistance.

According to National Reconstruction Authority, the government body formed to implement the post-earthquake reconstruction work, sub regional office, Dhulikhel’s chief Dhrubaraj Gaida, the number of eligible beneficiaries for the grants assistance in the district is 63,596.

The reconstruction efforts were going on, prioritising the rural areas, he said, adding that the number of new homes was expected to go up within the next few days.

Among quake survivors in the district, 61,222 had drawn the first instalment from the government while 2,374 received from various non-government organisations.  Likewise, the grants distribution data reading is that so far 2,037 have received the second instalment from the government and 244  have got from non-government organisations.

The Urban Development and Division Office, Dhulikhel has received applicants from 50,000 survivors seeking engineering certification for the reconstruction.
