Regular protests take away festive excitements from Far-West folks

KAILALI: This year, Gita Bhatta of Dhangadhi-2 does not have any excitement for the festivals like Gaur and Teej.

Likewise, Mamata Chandra of Dhangadhi also does not have any merriment of the festivals.

The ongoing protests and agitations in the Far-Western Region over the draft constitution have taken away all excitements of people though a bunch of festivals are approaching.

Continuously imposed curfew after the increase of violence after the murder of eight policemen and a two-year-old child in Tikapur of Kailali district has hit the life of people here.

Krishna Ashtami is being observed across the country. However, the 24-hour curfew imposed by the government in Tikapur has stopped them from celebrating the festival, informed Asmita Chaudhary of the town.

If the condition remains same, the biggest festivals like Dashain and Tihar will also be going to be affected, feared locals.
