Release of journalists demanded

Expressing concern over the detention of journalists, international journalists’ groups have demanded their release. The IFJ has urged the government to release Surya Thapa, the editor of Budhabar weekly. It expressed concern over the editors of five weeklies being summoned to explain to the DAO why they left their opinion pages blank after the Royal move. Reporters Sans Frontiers also expressed concern over the arrest of six journalists in two weeks. It urged the officials to end arrests and summons. It expressed concern over the arrest of Lavadev Dhungana, editor of the daily Panchthar Times, and other journalists.
