Dharan, July 19:

Some 400 employees at the Reliance Spinning Mill have quit their job citing security reasons and others are planning the same, it is reported. The Maoists had, on Saturday, blasted the Mills. There were around 1,100 workers working at the Mill when the Maoists detonated a bomb, said Prabhuram Chaudhary, a worker at the Mill. “The workers are mentally disturbed and are not in position to continue with the job and the family members are pressing us to quit job,” he added. Assistant manger of the Mill, Mahesh Pokhrel, said the blast and the fire that followed has rendered some 700 workers jobless. Anurudh Chaudhary, a worker at the Mill, condemned the Maoist atrocity and blamed them for loss of jobs of poor workers. The Maoists should have discussed their problems with the Mills administration and the workers’ union but they did not do so. It was an inhumane act to cause so much damage, he said.

Meanwhile, the workers of the Mill, in a press release issued today have requested the Maoists not to repeat such a barbaric act.
