Relief for victims' kin

DHADING: The kin of the workers killed by the security forces got compensation from the government after nine years on Thursday. The workers were constructing Suntharali airport of Kalikot district when 33 of them, including 17 of Jogimara Dhading, were shot dead by the then Royal Nepalese Army soldiers. They were accused of hob-nobbing with the Maoists.Families of 15 victims, including eight Chepang families, got Rs 1 lakh each. The government had been facing pressure from National Human Rights Commission and other national and international organisations to provide compensation to the kin of the deceased.
