Relief sent for clash victims

Syangja, January 17:

Relief materials for local residents affected by clashes between security forces and Maoists in rural areas of the district were dispatched today.

The Syangja District Development Committee (DDC) and Nepal Red Cross Society sent the relief materials for distribution among the residents of Manakamana, Majhkot Shivalaya and Chinnebas areas of eastern Syangja, where the security forces have been launching security operations for the past one week.

A team of doctors with medicines and equipment left for Manakamana in a helicopter today for the treatment of civilians injured in the operation, DDC Chairman Shree Prasad Gharti said.

The DDC has provided ten bundles of tin sheets for repairing houses, sheds, temples and schools that were damaged in the clash.

Relief materials including food grains, clothing and utensils for families caught in clash were sent to the region by helicopter. Syangja branch of Nepal Red Cross Society also has sent necessary relief materials to the region for victim families.

The security operation in the region continued today as well, district based security source said.

The situation in Manakamana, Majhkot Shivalaya and Chinnebas areas have remained tensed due to continued security operation.

Meanwhile, District Administration Office has organised a mobile camp from today onwards. Chief District Officer Durga Prasad Bhandari said citizenship certificates and passports will be distributed in the camp. He added that agriculture and veterinary services will also be provided in the camp.
