Report on people's feedback submitted to CA

KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly's Committee on Citizens' Relation and People's Opinion Collection has submitted the report on the people's feedback on the draft constitution on Tuesday.

Committee Chairperson Pramila Rana submitted the report made on the people's suggestions garnered during the nationwide programmes of July 20 and 21 to CA Chairman Subas Nembang.

The report has categorised the people's suggestions on the constitution. Various teams comprising staff at the CA Secretariat and CA members had collected the feedback during the programmes across the country.

Before sending the report to the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee, the CA meeting will hold discussion on the pressing issues of the report as press freedom, secularism, citizenship by mother's name, Hindu religion, secularism, form of governance and avoidance of syntactical errors.

Although some CA members from the Madhes-based parties tried to picket the rostrum, CA Chairman Nembang continued with the meeting.

Before submitting the report, the Dalit lawmakers demanded that the new constitution must address the Dalit liberation movement. They also said Dalits must be provided reservation and representation in all state agencies.

The CA will meet next at 11:00 am on Wednesday.
