Reports of Terai stir damages out
Janakpurdham, February 15:
Dhanusha district incurred a loss of Rs 76.3 million during the unrest in the Terai, a report said.
The Dhanusha district administration office said 27 government offices, 32 houses, shops and hotels and 19 schools, banks and NGOs were vandalised during the movement.
There are three Nepali Congress leaders among those claiming compensation for damages.
Joint general secretary Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Leela Koirala and parliamentarian Anandaprasad Dhungala have submitted the damages list.
In Sunsari, property worth at least Rs 40 million was damaged during the Terai turmoil, CDO and coordinator of the committee formed to assess loss and investigate the causes of loss, Sharadabhakta Poudel, told this daily in Itahari. Nepal Electricity Office, District Land Reforms Office, DAO, District Forest Office, Traffic Office, Agriculture Development Bank in Inaruwa were vandalised and set ablaze during the agitation.
