KATHMANDU: Of the 334 local levels where the second phase of local level elections were held, the results of only four local levels are awaited, said the Election Commission.

According to Election Commission Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma, the counting of votes in 31 districts have been completed. Currently, the counting of votes is underway in four districts.

As per the latest update, CPN-UML has won major posts in 148 local levels whereas Nepali Congress has emerged victorious in 121 local levels and CPN Maoist Centre in 38 seats.

Similarly, Federal Socialist Forum won chief posts in eight seats and Nepal Loktantrik Forum Nepal in six local levels.

Likewise, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has won four seats and the candidates of Rastriya Janamorcha have won the chief posts in two local levels.

The Commission also said that three independent candidates have emerged victorious in three levels.

According to the Joint Election Operation Centre of the EC, the results of 134 local levels in Province 1; 109 local levels in Province 5 and 87 local levels in Province 7 were announced.

The counting of votes is underway in Arjundhara Municipality in Jhapa; Biratnagar Metropolitan City; Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and Punarbas Municipality in Kanchanpur district.
