Revolt inevitable, says Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today clarified that another revolt is an open secret as the party has been saying that it was inevitable at a time when the parties are failing to provide a pro-people statute on time and are trying to sabotage the peace process.

"We have openly been saying time and again that drafting a new constitution without incorporating the people's aspirations would never be acceptable to us," Prachanda said at a function organised by the All Nepal Women's Association to mark the 100th International Women's Day.

"This will be the last war and will wither away all the anti-people forces and reactionary agents," he claimed.

He, however, said that the parties have been trying to sabotage the peace process and the constitution drafting process by spreading rumours that the Maoists are on their way to capture state power through a revolt.

Prachanda claimed that the Nepali Army that deserted monarchy for the sake of people will not support Nepali Congress or other parties that "bow against foreign powers."

"We have no intentions to change the structure of Nepali Army and have no enmity with the generals as well," he said, adding that he believed that the army will support the movement for national independence and for the people. "We should go together with the people to save the country," he said hinting at Nepali Army.

Earlier, parties had tried to incite the NA to stage an "accident" in the country and similar activities have been ongoing within dark rooms these days, he claimed. "If we fail to challenge them through struggle they can lead the nation towards a big accident and an autocratic regime."

Prachanda also claimed that conspiracy was being hatched to lead the nation towards an autocratic regime.

The conspiracy will not stop without a national government headed by the UCPN-Maoist, and, therefore, a Maoist government is a must for peace and timely constitution, he claimed.

He also said that preparation for a struggle was necessary to avert the possible "accident" in the country, for which women should take the lead akin to their contribution to the people's war and the people's movement, he said.

Talking about the present government he said, "This government has already decayed and is like a rotten pumpkin but yet to fall."

He said the 'puppet' government 'rejected by the people' would not resign because it doesn't have shame and is not accountable to the people.
