Rights bodies’ call for release of activists

Kathmandu, November 3:

Three Human Rights organisations today condemned the abduction of two human rights defenders. Prakash Acharya and Nirmal Kumar Acharya were abducted by an unidentified group on Wednesday in Dang.

Issuing a joint press release, Padma Ratna Tuladhar of Forum for Human Right Protection, Charan Prasai of Human Rights United Forum and Pradip Pokhrel Human Development and Peace Campaign urged abductors to release both.

Meanwhile, Maoists in Dang said they were not behind the abduction of the duo. CPN-M Dang district in-charge, Diamond, in a press release issued today, said the party condemns their abduction. He also demanded to release them immediately. The duo are the residents of Jhamake of Pawanpur VDC-8 in the district.
