Rise in temperature affects normal life in Tarai

MAHENDRANAGAR, DHANUSHA: Normal life in the central and eastern Tarai has been affected due to searing heat for the past four to five days. With the rise in temperature, the heat wave has blown, adversely affecting the day-to-day life.

Activities at the market area, educational institutions and government services have been affected due to the rising temperature in Tarai districts.

On Tuesday, the temperature of Janakpur hit a record high for this summer, reaching 38.8 degree Celsius. It was recorded the highest at 42 degree Celsius last year in comparison to last five years' temperature.

Likewise, the Office of Hydrology and Meteorology, Janakpur, has said that the temperature is likely to go further up for some weeks as the sky is expected to remain clear. Chief of the office, Munesh Mishra, said temperature would rise in the districts of central and eastern Tarai.

JanakpurĀ and other adjoining areas have not seen rainfall for the past one week and there is no immediate forecast of rainfall.
