Rivals Bhattarai, Shrestha step up campaigning in Gorkha-2

Gorkha, November 16

Naya Shakti Party-Nepal Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai and CPN-Maoist Centre leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who are contesting the parliamentary election from Constituency No. 2 of their home district Gorkha have intensified their poll campaigns.

Gorkha is one of the 32 districts where the first phase of provincial and parliamentary polls are being held on November 26.

In this election, Bhattarai enjoys support of Nepali Congress whereas Shrestha is the common candidate of the left alliance mainly comprising his party and CPN-UML.

Both the candidates have spent considerable time in the constituency, with Bhattarai reaching out to urban voters and Shrestha focusing his campaign on rural areas in the district.

Both the candidates are driving their campaigns meeting people and putting up their election materials such as posters and banners at various places. “It would have been better if these two leaders had spent their money on some development work rather than on poll publicity materials,” said Ram Thapa, a local from Laxmi Bazaar of the district.
