RJP to readily accept assembly poll results
Kathmandu, May 9:
The Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) chairman and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa today said his party would “readily accept” the outcome of the constituent assembly and the decisions made by the Parliament.
Thapa, however, added that RJP would not accept any third party mediation in the dialogue between the parties and the Maoists.
“Nepalis are capable… We don’t need a third party role,” the RJP supreme told reporters today after the party’s central committee meeting, adding, “But those who sit for dialogue must do it well.”
“Third party involvement means the seven-party alliance is incapable of holding talks with the Maoists,” he said.
On the much-hyped issue of bringing the Royal Nepalese Army under the purview of the Parliament, Thapa said, “This is not a big deal…I don’t know why people are so hell bent on talking about it…Are they simply trying to expose their bravery by talking about bringing the army under the Parliament?”
The central committee meeting of the party today endorsed Thapa’s four-point issues raised by him during the second day of the reinstated House of Representatives.
