NUWAKOT: Locals of Okharpauwa in the district have blocked the Jitpur-Okharpauwa road today protesting against the death of a local woman who was killed in a road accident on Saturday night.

According to Nuwakot District Police Chief Basant Kunwar, Sita Balami (30) died on the spot after being hit by a mini-truck (Ba 5 Kha 2523) at a residential area of Kakani Rural Municipality-1, Nuwakot last night.

Taking over the incident, the locals have blocked the road since Sunday morning demanding action against the mini-truck driver, and compensation to the affected family. Following the incident, some 100 trucks carrying solid waste to the dumping site in Okharpauwa have been stranded after being stopped at Jitpur.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made to resolve the issue and resume traffic. A team led by Kunwar at the Nuwakot District Police Office, with the help of Kathmandu District Police Office have been mobilised for the same, informed sources.
