Road construction in limbo

KHANDBARI: The construction of the Arunthan-Tombebesi road connecting Arunthan of Khandabari Municipality to Tombebasi of Diding Village Development Committee has been halted due to lack of budget.

The road construction had to be halted due to fund crunch last year also.

The road consumers’ committee lamented that though they had resumed the construction after collecting donations from various village development committees and the locals, they could not continue the construction.

According to Ram Bahadur Gurung, secretary of the consumers’ committee, they ran out of budget as it was too costly to clear the cliff at Dandebhir.

He said that the authorities were apathetic even though the construction was initiated after a road survey of the District Development Committee.

Around Rs 900,000 has already been spent for the construction, Gurung added.

He maintained they immediately need funds as the trails got obstructed while clearing the cliff. The villagers have to pass through the cliff while travelling.
