Road fatalities on the rise in Kaski

The number of deaths in road accidents has increased in Kaski.

As many as 35 persons had lost their lives and 64 others were injured in different road accidents that took place in rural and urban areas of Kaski in the last fiscal. Police said at least 36 persons had lost their lives, while 75 were injured in the district within the first seven months of the current fiscal.

According to the District Traffic Office, Kaski, most road accidents occurred in urban areas. The office also said that motorcycle accidents comprised a large proportion of road accidents. The DTO informed that of the 35 deaths in the fiscal 2072/73 BS, 28 were the male, four female, and three children. Similarly, 41 persons died in the fiscal 2071/72 BS, while 35 died in the fiscal 2070/71 BS.

Sources at the DTO said as many as 53 road accidents have taken place in rural and urban areas of Kaski this fiscal. Of them, 40 were bike accidents. Sources added that 46 motorcycles had met with accidents in the last fiscal. Chief at DTO Bishwo Adhikari said most road accidents were a result of speeding.
