Road mishaps kill two

Dhading, October 6:

A child died when a passenger bus headed to Kathmandu from Nawalparasi ran over him at Thakre VDC of Dhading on Prithvi Highway today. The dead was identified as Sujan Gurung (9), a native of Gorkha district.

Angry locals brought vehicular movement to a halt after the incident. They demanded action against the guilty driver and adequate compensation to the parents of the dead child.

Police have arrested the driver and seized the bus also, said the Traffic Police Office at Khanikhola. The relatives of the dead child are yet to come to claim his body. Traffic resumed on the Prithvi Highway in the evening after the bus owner agreed to provide adequate compensation to the child’s family.

Meanwhile, one person died after falling from the top of a bus headed to Rajbiraj from Janakpur today. The Area Police Office Siraha police identified the dead as Lila Bahadur Shrestha (Nainpurka Baiju), a native of Dhangadhi-5 (Siraha). Shrestha, who fell near Bastipur, died at a nursing home in Lahan.
