Road obstructed for past two months

Vehicular movement along the road that connects Umakunda Rural Municipality with district headquarters Manthali remains obstructed for last two months in Ramechhap.

The road was was damaged at various places due to monsoon rain and landslips.

People of as many as seven wards of the rural municipality have been affected by the obstruction of vehicular movement along the road.

“As the area witnessed more rainfall this year, many rural roads were damaged in the rural municipality,” regretted chair of the rural municipality Sher Bahadur Sunuwar.

People from from Gumdel, Wamti, Kuwukasthali, Bhuji and Gumteshwor have not been able to visit headquarters to avail government services due to road obstruction.

People are compelled to walk for hours to reach the district headquarters.

The victims of the 2015 earthquakes have been hit the worst as they are unable to transport construction materials required to complete construction of their houses.

Meanwhile, rural municipality chair Sunuwar said they had to spend a huge chunk of budget for the repair and upgradation of the road every year.
