Roads obstructed in Panchthar, Bhojpur

Landslide followed by incessant rainfall have obstructed roads in Panchthar and Bhojpur districts.

Ilam-Phidim road has been obstructed due to landslides in different sections of the road since last evening. A huge landslide at Pangrebhir has blocked the road in Phalgunanda Rural Municipality.

According to Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar at District Police Office, Panchthar, incessant rainfall hampered efforts to clear debris from the obstructed road.

Similarly, the Phidim-Yangnam-Phalot road in the district has also been obstructed.

Police said landslides had occurred in more than a dozen places along the road.

The road that links Pidim to Phalelung Rural Municipality has also been obstructed due to landslide that occurred near Nawami stream along Jorpokhari-Ektin-Memang road section. Phalelung Rural Municipality Chairperson Sancha Kumar Kerung said vehicles have been stranded due to the landslide.

Landslide has also obstructed transport service along Ranke-Rabi and Tharup-Chyangthapu road stretch.

Likewise, transport service on the Hile-Leguwa-Bhojpur road has been halted for the past two days due to incessant rainfall along the Mid- Hill Highway. The 26-kilometre stretch of the road from Hile to Sankhuwasabha has been covered with mud.

Khagendra Khadka, a passenger said many other passengers were facing problem as they could not reach their destinations .
