Robbers loot bank during festive break in Bajhang

DHANGADHI: Nearly eight kilograms of gold and Rs 3 lakh have been stolen from Rastriya Banijya Bank Bajhang Branch. The police, however, have no clue about the whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Executive manager of the bank, Gopal Jung Bahadur Singh said that the gold and cash were missing from two steel cupboards when the office opened at 10:00 on Friday.

According to Singh, despite security arrangements during Dashain, gold weighing 7.666 kg and Rs 3, 03310 have been stolen.

Likewise, DSP Basanta Kumar Panta informed that no damages were made at the main doors of the bank but the locks of the cupboards were broken. Police have taken into custody, two security guards and a peon for further investigation. While one of the guards, Suresh Bista has absconded. Chief District Officer Rajesh Poudel alleged the hands of bank employees for the robbery. While Panta said that, the missing guard was being searched.
