Role of youths in eliminating rampant corruption stressed

Participants of a student orientation programme underscored the role of youths in eliminating corruption. The programme was jointly organised by Centre for Media Freedom and SODEC Nepal in Pokhara.
Stating that corruption had become rampant in the country, the participants stressed the need of eliminating it at the earliest.
On the occasion, journalist Ram Krishna Regmi said Nepal was enlisted as a corrupt country due to bad governance. He urged the youths and students to raise voice against corruption. Regmi said accountability, transparency, rule of law and sense of responsibility could control corruption.
Journalist Dhurba Hari Adhikari said good governance was possible if efforts to control corruption were made from lower levels of society.
Journalist Rajendra Phuyal stressed on developing school curriculum that helps inculcate moral values among students.
Centre’s founding member and journalist Bimal Gautam said during the orientation programme that students were informed about different ways of curbing and controlling corruption.
Similarly, Freedom Forum’s Chairman Taranath Dahal said such orientation programme would help raise awareness against corruption. Project Director Dr Piyush Mishra said 400 students from Pardi Higher Secondary School, Chorepatan Higher Secondary School and Janapriya Multiple Campus were oriented on corruption related issues.
The orientation programme will be held at Gupteshwor Mahadev Multiple Campus in Chorepatan and Ramkot Higher Secondary School in Rupa Rural Municipality today.
