Dhangadhi, October 5
A monitoring team from Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City inspected markets in Dhangadi today.
The team comprised of National Consumers’ Forum Kailali chair Hari Regmi, representatives of District Police Office, Quality Control Office and journalists. The team had monitored more than two dozen fish and meat shops and seized rotten meat kept for sale.
Sub-metropolis Spokesperson Santosh Mudvari said they had seized 10 kg rotten fish from Kale Fish Shop located at Pashupati Tole. Similarly, 12 kg rotten mutton kept for sale at Kailali Meat Shop in Hasanpur was also seized.
Account Officer Lekhnath Ojha at the sub-metropolis said most of the fish and meat shops did not maintain hygiene. “Some fish and meat shops were found to be operating without registration,” Ojha said, adding “Action will be taken against the shops selling rotten fish and meat.”
