Round-the-clock power supply in Lomanthang
MUSTANG: The Lomanthang valley in Mustang is now with 24-hour power supply, thanks to a solar panel plant installed with grant assistance from the government of China.
The 70 KW capacity plant has been helping some 190 households in the valley to enjoy round-the-clock power supply. Prior to this, a micro-hydropower project of 29 KW had been providing them power from 6:00 to 10:00 pm in the evening and 4:00 to 7:00 am in the morning, according to the VDC Secretary Gyanendra Bista.
As per an agreement with the government of Nepal, the Chinese government has been supporting with the development of power, transportation, health and education sectors in the districts bordering with China.
Power from both the solar and hydropower project have been linked together to supply round-the-clock electricity, said Chief of the Border Administration Office in Mustang Krishna Prasad Dhakal.
