Royal property nationalisation: It must be legal, transparent: Rana
Kathmandu, August 27:
Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati SJB Rana today said that “legal procedures” must be followed while nationalising the king’s property and that the whole process must be transparent.
“People should know about the legal procedures involved in it. The whole process should be transparent,” Rana told a programme at Reporters’ Club.
He, however, refused to say how his party viewed the government’s decision to nationalise the royal property. “I can only say that we are an audience watching the whole episode,” he said.
He also resented that fact that the eight parties did not take up the issue with his party and the people for “wider discussions.” Rana said all major issues should be widely and thoroughly discussed.
Fretting about the activities of the Maoists, who, according to him, are trying to scuttle the constituent assembly process, Rana said, “Even the government is not truly bothered about the elections.”
He said the polls must be held in the scheduled date. “Elections should not be postponed at any cost,” he said.
He further said his party was making efforts for a unification with the Surya Bahadur Thapa-led Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP). He also said his party was working on the party manifesto, which he said would be made ppublic soon.
Asked about the RPP’s stance on monarchy, Rana said the party convention to be held in September 23-24 would decide on it.
