BIRGUNJ: At the call of various pro-royalists organisations, hundreds of people participated in a rally organised in Birgunj on Friday.

The rally started from Ghantaghar with participants chanting slogans demanding reinstatement of monarchy, Hindu state and the constitution of 1990.

UDMF cadres had earlier tried to obstruct the rally ripping apart the banner with the picture of former King Gyanendra Shah. The rally was led by Monarchy Reinstatement Struggle Committee.

The participants later reached the district administration office and submitted a memorandum to Chief District officer Anuj Bhandari.

The memorandum, meant for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, demanded that the government address the concerns of agitating Madhesi parties without any delay.

Besides the committee, Nepal Bidhwat Parisad, Nepal Rastrabad Sangh, Rastriya Nagarik Samiti and Rastrabhakta Samuha, among others, also participated in the rally.
