Royalists trying to foil polls: Sitaula
Bhairahawa/Dang, January 19:
Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula said here today that royal elements will “try their best to disrupt the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls”. Addressing an assembly of Nepali Congress cadres, he said: “Royal elements will hatch conspiracies to disrupt the polls.”
Cadres of the NC blamed the party for being the follower of the Maoists. “Political parties are the national forces, not the king and his supporters,” Sitaula said.
“I was surprised when Maoist chairman Prachanda met Ramesh Nath Pandey.” He said the royalists might have hatched a great conspiracy to foil the CA polls. He called for unity among the seven-party alliance to face the ‘possible conspiracy.’ Stating that the revolution that started from 2007 BS is continuing, he said this revolution will continue until the CA polls are held.
Meanwhile, former prime minister and leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba today directed party cadres to launch an election campaign for the victory of the party.
Speaking at a gathering in Dang, he said: “It’s not time for long talks. The focus should be on securing election victory for the party in all five constituencies of Dang district.”
“If we win the polls, it will be the victory of democracy,” Deuba said, claiming that the NC is the only party that ensures the rights of all people.
