Kathmandu, April 5:

At least 16 senior leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) today met at a resort in Budanilakantha. The meeting reportedly focused on the need for the party to convene the central working committee meet to avert further split in the party.

“It is high time all leaders — including former party president Surya Bahadur Thapa and senior leader Rajeswor Devkota — come to a common platform,” party vice-chairman Padma Sunder Lawati said. Devkota is the chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Rastrabadi).

He also reiterated that the party take a clear stand on the February 1 Royal move to put a full stop to intra-party wrangling.

“This should be on the basis of the demand of the party cadres,” he added.

Party joint-general secretary Khem Raj Pandit refused to comment on the meeting. “Some friends might have met to discuss something,” he said.

The meeting is said to continue tomorrow.
