RPP for timely provincial and parliamentary elections: Thapa

HETAUDA: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairperson Kamal Thapa has urged the Election Commission to hold the upcoming Provincial and Parliamentary elections on stipulated date.

Speaking with media in Hetauda today, Thapa expressed optimism that RPP would get results in upcoming polls.

Former DPM Thapa also shared that he could possibly fight elections from Makwanpur-1 if the central Committee decides to field him there.

Former Foreign Minister Thapa claimed that the PM Deuba-led government is indulged in organised corruption in the country. He also termed PM Deuba's Cabinet expansion as shameful and claimed the ruling government as irrelevant.

"Cabinet expansion was against the spirit of the constitution and against the election code of conduct," Thapa lamented.

He also expressed dissatisfaction that PM Deuba had directly violated the election code of conduct and political ethics at a time when civil servants cannot be transferred and appointed.

"RPP and other political parties have been protesting the government moves," Thapa added.

Thapa also accused the Election Commission for giving approval to Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic even it lacks 40% signatures of its cadres.

As per the constitutional requirement, the government should hold provincial and parliamentary elections by January 21.

The Provincial and Parliamentary elections are scheduled on November 26 and December 7 respectively.
