Rs 15.14m Indian aid
Kathmandu, August 9:
The Government of India has decided to provide a grant assistance of Rs 15.14 million for the construction of a new building for a health centre and a school in Dang and Argakhanchi districts.
A press statement issued by the embassy here today said two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed today with the District Development Committees (DDCs) concerned and the beneficiary organisations.
Assistance of Rs 7.71 million will help the construction of a new building at the Nepal-Bharat Paediatric Health Centre in Dang and Rs 7.4 million will be spent in constructing a new
school building for the Shree Shanti Secondary School in Argakhanchi, the statement stated. The release further said that a new building at the health centre will provide qualitative emergency, pathology, maternity and paediatrics services in the entire Rapti zone.
“The school building constructed with the Indian assistance will help the school to accommodate the growing number of students,” the press statement stated further.
Under the MoUs, the project will be implemented by the DDCs concerned.
Separate oversight committees consisting of representatives from the relevant beneficiary organisations, local development and administrative authorities will be constituted to ensure community participation, timely implementation and effectiveness of the projects.
