Rs 5.4 million Japanese assistance for disabled

Kathmandu, August 17:

The government of Japan has decided to extend financial assistance of Rs 5.4 million for the construction of Disabled Children Education and Training Centre in Pokhara.

The assistance will be provided to Shishu Bikas Kendra (SBK) of Nepal Jesuit Society, a press release issued by the Japanese embassy said today.

The grant contract was signed and exchanged between Tsutomu Hiraoka, Japanese ambassador to Nepal and father Akijirou Ooki, director of the SBK at a ceremony today.

Hiraoka mentioned that the Japanese assistance to Nepal will help achieve sustainable development through poverty alleviation and ensure human security. He lauded the contribution of the SBK for the betterment and welfare of the disabled children.

The grant will be used for the construction of the first floor of the training centre and for the sanitation works.
