Rs 51 lakh collected for community hospital in a day

Lekhnath, March 6:

People from different walks of life have contributed money and land for the construction of a community hospital in Pokhara.

According to Dr Kalu Sharma, coordinator, Hospital Construction Committee, a sum of

Rs 5,188,834 was collected today. The committee has managed to collect a sum of Rs 10.52 million so far. With a view to collecting donations for the construction purpose, a religious discourse was also organised. Laxmi Kant Poudel offered land worth over Rs 500,000.

Earlier, Rewati Raman Poudel and his wife had donated their property for the hospital. They wish to serve the needy at the hospital for the rest of their lives.

While heart specialist Dr Narayan Gautam said he wanted to volunteer at the hospital, Kabiraj Pokharel of Arghakhanchi promised to donate the equipment needed for the radiology department of the proposed hospital.
