KATHMANDU, JUNE 21
Vice-chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dr Swarnim Wagle, has said the party represents a campaign for Nepal's political renaissance.
Addressing the party's first general convention, which began here today coinciding with its fourth foundation day, Dr Wagle said the RSP reflects citizens' aspiration for positive change and prosperity.
"Our objective is not only to change the government but also to change the political culture," he said, adding that the party advocates a governance system based on conscience, rules, merit, and citizen-centred democracy.
He said the RSP is committed to building a liberal democracy, a competitive economy, an equitable society, and a capable state. Emphasising opportunities within the country, he said efforts must be made to ensure that youths are not forced to go abroad for employment, while farmers and workers can live with dignity and entrepreneurs can invest without fear.
Wagle, who is also the Finance Minister, said citizens' capability, institutional strength, and national confidence must be at the centre of building a self-reliant Nepal.
Describing the general convention as the beginning of a political renaissance, he called for transforming despair into hope and frustration into constructive change.
"This is a journey from irresponsibility to accountability, from protectionism to competition, and from misguided politics to result-oriented democracy," he said.
