Run eye clinic, Red Cross asked

Sarlahi, October 26:

Representatives of civil society have urged the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), Sarlahi, to operate the Lalbandi Community Eye Treatment Centre as soon as possible.

They also urged the Sarlahi branch of the NRCS to appoint eye specialist in the centre so that thousands of residents of 20 VDCs here, including Kalinjor, Pattharkot, Parwanipur, Attrauli, Narayankhola, Haripur and Netragunj, could benefit.

One Dhruba Prasad Gautam said most of the eye patients of rural region have to suffer more due to treatment from fake doctors. Stating that the Eye Treatment Centre could be operated in the building of local health centre for the time being, central vice president of Nepal Peasants’ Association, Basu Adhikari, said Janaki Eye Hospital Janakpur has already appointed three health workers for the Centre.

Govinda Mahat of the Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, Sarlahi, said equipment, beds, stretchers and furniture for the eye care centre are also in store in the Janaki Eye Hospital.
