KATHMANDU, JUNE 11

Sabina Maskey has been appointed as the Officiating Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, on Wednesday.

The move follows a corruption case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against former MD Sangita Pahadi, Telecom spokesperson Rabindra Manandhar confirmed.

According to the CIAA, a charge sheet has been filed at the Special Court against 18 individuals, including then Managing Director Sunil Paudel, then Chief Commercial Officer (now MD) Sangita Pahadi, and Chinese company AsiaInfo Yunghang Software (Beijing) Limited. They are accused of misusing and causing damage to the property of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (Nepal Telecom), a public institution, through acts of corruption.

Foreign nationals Long Yong and Hong Wei are also among the accused.
