Sachit addresses meet

Kathmandu, January 9:

Member of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee, Sachit Shumsher JB Rana, has said the function of the Raj Parishad is not only to offer advice to the King, but also to apprise the King about the burning problems of the country.

Speaking at a face-to-face interaction programme organised by the Nepal Intellectual Contact and Thought Forum here today, he said the Raj Parishad has made a submission to the King on topics such as taking initiatives for resolving the Maoist problem as per the public aspirations, calling the seven political parties and the Maoists also for talks, creating employment opportunities for the unemployed persons and resolving in a systematic manner the shortcomings in the development of the women, children and indigenous nationalities.

The interaction was organised with the objective of providing information on various Raj Parishad conferences. Rana said the seven political parties have to take part in the elections if they want peace and security in the country, stressing that the Maoists too should forsake murder and violence and request the government for talks.

On the occasion, President of the Rastrabadi Milan Kendra Ganesh Bahadur Pandey said that the work of the Raj Parishad is to not only give advice to the King, but also to apprise the King on topics of public interest is known to all the people.
