Sacked SP Bista’s statement recorded
Dhangadi, March 20
The statement of sacked superintendent of police Dilliraj Bista, who was accused of destroying evidence and torture during investigation of the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Bhimdatta Municipality, was recorded today.
Bista had surrendered to Kanchanpur District Court on Tuesday.
Staffer Hari Krishna Awasthi at the district court said that the work of recording Bista’s statement was finished today. According to Awasthi, Bista’s statement related to torture was recorded yesterday while his statement on destroying evidence was recorded today.
Following the recording of the statements, a hearing had taken place in Bista’s case today itself, but the hearing was rescheduled for Friday due to lack of time.
District attorney Devraj Bharati and joint-district attorney Mohan Joshi, on behalf of the plaintiff, and advocate Krishna Dev Joshi on behalf of the defendant, had taken part in today’s hearing. The hearing was put off till Friday due to lack of time.
Sacked SP Bista is in the custody of the district police office. Since two cases have been filed against him, Bista has been asked to hire one more advocate.
