Safe motherhood drive effective in Lamjung

Lamjung, July 27

The Safe Motherhood Programme which aims to reduce mother and child mortality rates nationally has been effective in Lamjung district. The programme was started in 2008.

With the launch of the programme, pregnant women started visiting health facilities for regular check-ups and opted for delivery at birthing centres rather than at home.

Ambika KC, a health worker at District Public Health Office, Lamjung, said most pregnant women reached health facilities under DPHO for delivery cases.  KC added as many as 1,919 women had approached different health facilities under DPHO in the last fiscal, for delivery service.

She informed that a total of 1,813 pregnant women had received delivery service through those health facilities in the fiscal 2015-2016.
