INARUWA: For many of us, it could be a matter of disbelief that shallow and sandy rivers are wortj millions of rupees in value. But it is true in Sunsari district’s case.

The District Development Committee (DDC), Sunsari earned Rs 20 million in the running fiscal year by the sale of sand and gravel to contractors, mined out from the different rivers and rivulets flowing through the district. The sand, gravel and soil sold are exported to India, the locals said.
