SAPTARI: A team of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Eastern Region Office, Itahari caught a government employee red-handed while he was receiving Rs 40,000 as a bribe from a teacher, on Sunday.

The team arrested Birendra Kusiyait Yadav, Technical Assistant at the District Education Office, Saptari and confiscated the amount.

Yadav had promised the teacher that he would help him transfer to a school in Dhanusha district if paid the kickback.

The team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Basnet, acting on a tip-off, held Yadav from a house in Rajbiraj-7, according to CIAA Regional Office, Itahari.

Arrested Yadav has been taken to the CIAA Itahari office for further investigation and action.
