Saptari man held for swindling job aspirant of Rs 1 mln

KATHMANDU: A man has been arrested on charge of swindling a job aspirant of Rs 1 million posing himself as an official of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Nepal Police's Metropolitan Police Crime Division identified the suspect as 26-year-old Ashutosh Kumar Karna aka Aas of Rajbiraj, Saptari.

Karna had taken Rs 1 million in different installments from Dipendra Yadav of Saptari, saying he would help the latter secure job at the NEA, according to police.

Karna had won Yadav's confidence, telling the gullible job aspirant a tall tale that he was responsible to prepare the vacancy results at the NEA.

But Karna went out of contact after receiving the final installment of the promised amount, transferred through IME, from Yadav.

Subsequently, Yadav resorted to the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

After receiving a complaint from the alleged victim, the MPCD swung into action. A team deployed from the MPCD rounded up the suspected swindler from Balkhu of Kathmandu today.

The suspect has been handed over to Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, for further action, the MPCD said.
