Saud blames Maoists for ‘lack’ of national unity
Kavre, February 24:
NC-D central member NP Saud today said that the ‘split-oriented view’ of the Maoists was responsible for the non-establishment of peace even after the success of Jana Andolan II in the country.
Addressing the sixth conference of the Kavre chapter of Nepal Students’ Union-Democratic (NSU-D) in Banepa, Saud said: “The Maoists’ slogan of self- determination is trying to force the nation into division. Their slogan is split-oriented.”
“Since Maoists taught people to seek racial rights and rights of indigenous groups, the Tarai agitation mushroomed,” Saud said, adding: “Seeking a separate Tarai state is part of the demand for the right to self-determination by the Tarai people. If the nation heads towards division, the Maoists will have been responsible for this.”
“There is no need for investment in army and weapons. However, investment is needed in the sector of education,” Saud said, adding: “Common problems would be solved if the government diverts investment to combating poverty, illiteracy, diseases and hunger.”
Acting chairperson of NSU-D Nripa Bahadur Bist and district chairperson Tirtha Paskhal also expressed their views on the occasion.
