SC asks govt to explain NC leader’s detention

Kathmandu, March 9:

The Supreme Court today

sought explanation from government authorities, including the Kathmandu District Administration Office, and Kathmandu District Police Office Hanumandhoka, as to why Nepali Congress leader Haribol Bhattari has been detained.

A single bench of justice Kedar Prasad Giri issued the order following today’s hearing. The bench has asked them to furnish replies within three days.

Meanwhile, the Special Court today detained former joint secretary Niranjan Prasad Chalise as he failed to produce the bail of Rs 25 million. The CIAA had filed a corruption case against him for amassing Rs 45 million while in service.
