KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 5

The Supreme Court issued an order requesting the original documents pertaining to the decision to grant amnesty to Yograj Dhakal, also known as 'Regal,' by October 11.

A single bench presided over by Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma issued this order, stating, "All documents related to the decisions made on September 20 regarding Regal's parole by the President must be submitted to the court via the Office of the Attorney General by October 11."

Additionally, Justice Sharma decided to schedule the next hearing before a full bench on October 12, citing the need for a smooth and timely resolution of the case. The ultimate decision on the matter will rest with the full bench on the designated date.

President Ramchandra Paudel had granted Regal a pardon based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Constitution Day, Asoj 3.

Regal's release not only elicited widespread criticism but also led to a legal case being filed against the government's decision by Bharati Manandhar Sherpa, the spouse of Chetan Manandhar, whom Regal had murdered in Banke. Regal had been serving a jail sentence after being convicted of murder by the court.

The Supreme Court's order came after a preliminary hearing on the case earlier today.
