The Supreme Court has issued an order to halt the senate meeting called to take action against officials at the BP Koirala of Institute of Health and Sciences of Dharan. Assistant-chancellor and Health Minister Birod Khatiwada had called a senate meeting of the institute on April 3 to remove officials, including sitting vice-chancellor Dr Gyanendra Giri from office as per the recommendation of the probe committee.
Dr Giri and hospital director Prof Dr Gaurishankar Sah had knocked the Supreme Court's door against the meeting. A single bench of Supreme Court Justice Tanka Bahadur Moktan has issued a temporary order to stop the meeting.
The court also issued a show cause order and called the defendants to discuss the matter.
