SC moved to free Maoists
Kathmandu, August 17:
Seeking a Supreme Court order to the government to release cadres of the Maoist-aligned Young Communist League and All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary, student leaders Chandra Bahadur Thapa alias Sagar and Himal Sharma filed two habeas corpus cases at the court today.
The cadres were arrested during a clash with activists of the Nepal Students’ Union a few days ago.
The petitioners claimed that the cadres were arrested and detained illegally. While Thapa has sought the release of 33 persons, including Binaya Ramtel, Himal Sharma has sought the release of 21 persons.
